Analytical & Hortatory Exposition

EXPOSITION
There are 2 kinds of exposition text are : Analytical exposition and Hortatory exposition. (Ada 2 macam teks exposion, yaitu analytical exposition dan hortatory exposition).
ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION
Social function/Purpose : To persuade the reader or that something is an important matter. (Untuk memaparkan atau mempengaruhi pembaca bahwa ada masalah yang penting, dan perlu mendapat perhatian).
Generic strutures of text:
- Thesis : Stating an issue of writer (Pernyataan pendapat penulis).
- Arguments : It contains of : (Terdiri dari):
- Point : Restates main arguments outlined in preview (Pernyatan kembali argumen utama penulis dalam thesis diatas).
- Elaboration : Develops and support each point/argument. (Pengembangan yang mendukung point/argumen utama).
- Reiteration : Restated writer’s position. (Pernyataan kembali posisi penulis).
Language features :
- To use Passive form (To be + V-3) (Menggunakan bentuk passif) eq:” It is analysed”
- To use modals verbs: “can, may” (Menggunakan modal verb: can, may)
- To use words of link argument, such as; firstly, secondly, thirdly, finally, etc. (Menggunakan kata penghubung, seperti; firstly, secondly, thirdly, finally, dsb).
Language focus of text : Simple Present Tense (Verb-1)
Notes:
This text is similar to hortatory exposition, but there is nothing recommended towards readers of the writer’s arguments. (Teks ini mirip dengan teks hortatory exposition, tapi tidak ada penekanan kepada pembaca akan pentingnya semua argumen yang dipaparkan oleh penulis).
HORTATORY EXPOSITION

Social function/Purpose : It’s unexpected and a comical situation in the end of story. (Akhir ceritanya lucu dan tidak terduga).Generic strutures of text :
- Orientation : Give the reader the background information about person, involved person, time, and place.(Memberi informasi tentang pelaku, waktu, dan tempat).
- Events : Tell what happened in a chronological sequence. (Menceritakan peristiwa atau kejadian yang terjadi, yang biasanya disampaikan dalam urutan kronologis).
- Twist : It’s unexpected and a comical situation in the end of story. (Akhir ceritanya lucu dan tidak terduga).
Notes:
This text is similar to recount text, but it’s different in the end of story. (Teks ini mirip dengan teks recount, tapi di akhir ceritanya berbeda).

NEWS ITEMS
Social function/Purpose : To inform the readers, listeners, or viewers about events of the day which are considered newsworthy or important. (Untuk memberitakan kepada pembaca, pendengar, atau penonton tentang peristiwa/kejadian sehari-hari yang dianggap penting atau layak diberitakan).
Generic strutures of text:
- Newsworthy Event : Recounts the even in summary form. (Kejadian inti diberitakan secara singkat).
- Background Event: Elaborate what happened, to whom, in what circumstances. (Latar belakang yang meliputi elaborasi kejadian, orang yang terlibat, tempat kejadian, dan sebagainya).
- Sourses : Comments by participans in, witnesses to and authorities expert on the event. (Sumber komentar saksi kejadian, pendapat para ahli, dsb).
Language focus of text:
- Simple Past Tense (Verb-2)
- Short, telegraphic information about story captured in headline
- Using action verbs
- Using saying verbs
- Using adverbs : time, place and manner.

Procedure Text
Procedure is a text that show a process in order. Its social function is to describe how something is completely done through a sequence of series (Prosedur adalah teks yang menunjukkan proses dalam rangka. Fungsi sosialnya adalah untuk menjelaskan bagaimana sesuatu benar-benar dilakukan melalui tahapan atau langkah-langkah)
Generic Structure of Procedure
- Goal: showing the purpose (maksud atau tujuan)
- Material: Telling the needed materials (bahan-bahan yang di butuhkan
- Step 1-end: Describing the steps to achieve the purpose (Penjelasan langkah-langkah yang di lakukan untuk mencapai Tujuan)
Language Feature of Procedure
- Using temporal conjunction
- Using action verb
- Using imperative sentence
- Using Simple Present Tense

Social function/Purpose : To describe the way things are, references to a range of natural. (Untuk menyampaikan informasi apa adanya, sebagai hasil dari pengamatan sistematis atau analisis).
Generic strutures of text:
- General classification : To introduce the topic of subject reports.(Gambaran umum yang menerangkan subyek laporan)
- Description : To describe details of topic of subject reports such as; habit and habitat feature and behavior of human or animal. And the usage of thing especially.(Mendeskripsikan/menggambarkan ciri-ciri kebiasaan, habitat, tingkah laku dari orang atau binatang,dan kegunaan daribenda secara detail).
Language focus of text: Simple Present Tense (Verb-1)
Notes:
This text only describes about habit and habitat feature of person/animal. Rather than describing about phisical feature.(Teks ini hanya menggambarkan tentang ciri-ciri kebiasaan dan habitat (untuk mahluk hidupseperti orang/binatang). Dan kegunaan (untuk benda mati). Bukan menggambarkan tentang ciri-ciri fisik).
