Descriptive Text

DESCRIPTIVE

Social function/Purpose: To describe a particular person, place or thing. (Untuk mendeskripsikan seseorang, benda atau tempat tertentu).

Generic strutures of text: 

1. Identification : To identify phenomenon to be described.(Benda/orang/tempat yang di deskripsikan).
2. Description : To describe parts, qualities, characteristics.(Mendeskripsikan/menggambarkan ciri-ciri benda, orang/tempat).

Language focus of text : Simple Present Tense (Verb-1)

Notes:

This text only describes about the phisical feature of thing/person/plece. Rather than describing about habit or habitat feature.(Teks ini hanya menggambarkan tentang ciri-ciri fisik dari benda/orang/tempat. Bukan menggambarkan tentang ciri-ciri kebiasaan, atau ciri-ciri habitat).

Narrative Text

NARRATIVE

Social function/Purpose : To tell an imagination story to entertain the reader.(Adalah teks yang menceritakan cerita imajinasi atau dongeng yang bertujuan untuk menghibur pembaca).

Generic strutures of text :

1. Orientation : Give the reader the background information about person, involved person, time, and place.(Memberi informasi tentang pelaku, waktu, dan tempat).
2. Complication : A crisis rises(Pengembangan konflik).
3. Resolution : The crisis is resolved for better or worse.(Penyelesaian konflik).

Narrative text types: 

Folktale, legend, myth, realistic tales, mysteries, fantasy, fiction, etc.(Cerita rakyat, legenda, mitos, cerita nyata, misteri, khayalan, fiksi, dsb).

Language focus of text : 

• Simple Past Tense (Verb-2)
• Using temporal conjunction
• UsingProcesses Verb

Recount Text

RECOUNT

Social function/Purpose : Tell the readers what happened in the past through the sequence of events.(Adalah melaporkan peristiwa, kejadian, atau kegiatan kita atau seseorang yang paling berkesan yang terjadi di masa lampau untuk memberitakan atau menghibur).

Generic strutures of text: 

1. Orientation : Give the reader the background information about person, involved person, time, and place(Memberi informasi tentang pelaku, waktu, dan tempat).
2. Events : Tell what happened in a chronological sequence.(Menceritakan peristiwa atau kejadian yang terjadi, yang biasanya disampaikan dalam urutan kronologis).
3. Re-orientation : Give the conclusion of the experience.(Pengantar akhir yang merangkum rentetan peristiwa, kejadian, atau kegiatan).

Language Feature of Recount : 

• Introducing personal participant; I, my group, etc
• Using chronological connection; then, first, etc
• Using linking verb; was, were, saw, heard, etc
• Using action verb; look, go, change, etc
• Using simple past tense (Verb-2)
